Sinopse:
No ano de 2061, a humanidade convive ao lado de uma sociedade virtual totalmente autônima, criada por ela própria. Cinquenta anos se passaram desde a data de criação da rede, e essa avançada tecnologia permitiu aos humanos viverem num mundo verdadeiramente utópico. Todos os desejos das pessoas, desde os mais inocentes até os mais proibidos, podem facilmente ser realizados na rede sem o peso da sociedade. Os dados e informações pessoais que circulam pelo local estão todos salvos e protegidos nos chamados "bubble shells" (espécie de disco rígido desse novo espaço virtual). Contudo, novos problemas começarão a surgir, sobretudo sociais. Um atrito entre o mundo real e o virtual começa a ocorrer após a descoberta de meios de extravasar os instintos de pessoas dentro da rede, causando diversas anomalias.
